About
It all started out in 2016 when I had the first contact with that little Gopher. At that point in time my programming language of choice for most stuff around was Python. I love its mighty expressiveness1 and its unobtrusive and accommodating nature which adapts nicely to one’s skill level.
But in charge of developing the successor of an existing Internet-of-Things platform, where most devices where under-powered mips bricks, we searched for a good fit beside C/C++, whose complexity would have blown my team’s experience level and the (always) tight schedule.
After some research some of my mates came up with Go. And, what should I say, after some thousand lines of code we wrote during some prototyping I felt in love with Go. But the next thousands lines of code were much harder to write, because after all that overwhelming prettiness Go showed us its grotesque face.
So, The Avid Gopher beheld the light of day and started to guide us through the daily “GObstacles” everyone of us is experiencing.
- The Zen of Python formulates my personal reception of Python’s charisma very well. [return]
